This project came about after various experiences within the Dominican Republic as well as abroad. Abroad, after perceiving a deteriorated image of dominican women; and in the country, noticing the little information kids, adolescents and even adults have about Dominican women.

Another determining factor has been the little information about Dominican women available on the internet about the positive and proactive activities we do in the community. Unfortunately, a vast majority of the information that comes up is related to sex and beauty. 

I know Dominican women are much more than that. We are educators, leaders, entrepreneurs, activists, fighters, administrators and so much more. However, I cannot blame the Dominican community nor foreigners for the lack of accessible information about Dominican women due to the inexistent educational or policy initiatives. That is why we decided to make a difference and do something about it.

We know that this is not just an isolated issue with Dominican woman but a worldwide issue which is why we want to do this and eventually represent every country.
